Longjing Village lies among the hills west of the lake and is regarded as the birthplace of West Lake Longjing, or Dragon Well tea. Mist, abundant rain and the mountain soil shape both the gardens and their celebrated green tea.
The landscape is still worked by tea-growing families. Picking and hand-roasting connect cultivation, craft and everyday hospitality, making Longjing a living cultural landscape rather than a preserved relic.
